George for president

George had a wonderful weekend full of fun. He got lots of time to play with his sisters and all of the new toys that made their way into our house from all the Christmas mayhem. When we went in for our appointment today it was like we were the only ones in the whole building. We got the very first parking place in the parking garage. We walked through an empty lobby and up to the 8th floor which to our surprise was completely empty as well. They have a special playroom for the immune compromised children but George has never been allowed in there to keep extra precautions on him not getting sick. Well not today. Today he played and played and played. He was so happy. He always asks to go in there. There was also some sort of podium left in the room, I’m sure it was from a meeting amongst the staff. George hopped right up behind it and proceeded to bang his pen to get my attention and then yell gibberish at me. He is a natural politician. He got a great report from the dr and his labs came back wonderfully too. His hemoglobin dropped a little bit was still at 11.4 so that is great. His platelets were up to 198. His ANC was sky high and all his other levels were in the “normal” range. He will go back up to get checked again on Thursday but the dr was impressed about his progress and suggested possibly cutting back on some of his dr visits. Praise the Lord!!! What a blessing this would be. I think George needs time to heal and rest between all of his appointments to give his body a chance to work itself out. But that is just because I am his mommy. The drs know best and we will happily go as many days as we need to until he is all healed. No changes were made to any of his medicines for now. That will be a day that we welcome with open arms. 8 medicines, twice a day is a lot. For anyone. For everyone. We approach this new year with renewed strength and our heads tuned up to God praising and thanking Him for where we are today and how far we have come. We pray for continued healing and continued progress for George. We thank you Lord for all you have done thus far. Happy New Year’s Eve, Eve to everyone. Saying goodbye to the hardest year of our lives and looking forward to seeing all that God has planned for us in this New Year to come.
