The force

This morning we checked into the day hospital to start George’s new round of chemo. He had a fever yesterday and his cough has picked up a little so I wondered how this would effect it all. We went in prepared for a blood transfusion as well but they decided to hold off on that until Thursday. The treatment seemed to go alright. Time passed pretty quickly because of his constant entertainers who come by. Today was another Art with Heart painting class where, no shock here, he chose a tank to paint. He walked into the hospital dressed in his Spiderman alter ego and left dressed as his Darth Vader alter ego thanks to his sweet nurse Taylor who always makes sure George has some fun gifts for him to leave with. The force is strong with this one. Of all the super heros and characters that he likes to dress up as, Darth Vader really pulls out his inner thespian. When I say he goes full character I mean he goes full character. His posture is tall. His walk is stiff and his voice turns deep. If George Lucas is in need of a reprised role of Vader then we have the perfect candidate to fill the demand. If that doesn’t work out then George is also available to come to children’s parties for meet and greets. His counts were low today. I think partly because he is sick. He had to have a Neupegen shot and will need another one tomorrow. Hopefully this will get his numbers back to where they need to be. The chemo made him feel a little rough. He is clingy and whiny and tired. I’m certain he will rally by tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow. It will be a big day for George. He has a dr appointment at 9 am and then we go straight over to WJXT Chanel 4 to be put live on the air for an interview for their telethon to raise money for the hospital. He and Kate were both asked to participate. So if you can, tune into the 12 o’clock news and see us fumbling around trying to form complete sentences while they throw questions at us. Public speaking is not my forte. Please be in prayer for George to be able to kick this anemia with the help of this new round of medicine. Please pray for him over the next two weeks while he is undergoing the IV treatments. Please pray for his counts to come back up so he won’t have to continue to take the Neupegen shots. We are thankful that he was able to begin the treatment and will hopefully be close to getting to the finish line. God give him strength as another round of harmful chemicals runs through his veins. Protect him and his organs. Heal him Lord.
