Zzzzzzzzzz......

Yesterday George had his last round of the new chemo. Hip hip hooray!!! Praying that this will have finally done the trick of getting rid of the hemolytic anemia. We will know for sure in a few weeks. He also received another treatment of a super strong IV antibiotic that he gets once a month to prevent him from getting pneumonia. Ever since his blood transfusion on Tuesday his face has been extremely red. The steroids make George have puffy cheeks and a red face but this red was startling. Like something was wrong. He also fell asleep at his treatment. This may not seem strange to anyone because little kids nap but for George this was very strange. He fights a nap like it was going to be something that caused him pain. He hates napping. He takes an afternoon nap and it’s not everyday. My schedule is so busy with everything that we hardly ever are home to put him down for one. When I am home it’s like taming a wild animal to try and make him go to sleep. So for him to fall asleep at 10 in the morning on his own just shows me that this treatment has caught up to him. He has been very clingy all week and just not acting like his bubbly and energetic self. This morning he woke up and his face had gone back to normal red versus the two days of startling red. Hooray!! He also woke up with an injured foot. He can’t put any weight on it and cries if he tries to. So weird. One of the side effect that patients who go through transplants have is osteoporosis. His bones will always be very fragile and weak. The dr told me to give him some pain medicine and bring him in Monday for some xrays to see what could be going on. I can only laugh thinking about tiny little George on crutches. Hopefully it is just a strange side effect from one of the many medications he is on and not a broken bone. Tomorrow is his Wolfson 55 race and ceremony. We were firmly told by his dr to not take him because of his ultra weakened immune system right now. So we will go an honor him and all the other families that are being recognized. I can’t say that the last few weeks have been easy but I can say that brighter days are just around the corner and so we will rest in Gods arms for now and get through this rough patch. I am so thankful that his newest chemo treatment has come to an end. I am so thankful that his red face calmed down. I am so thankful to have an army surrounding me of prayer warriors and love for our family and George. I can’t wait to post about the event tomorrow and to post wonderful news on George’s progress when we go back for labs Monday. Thank you to all of Georgie’s Joggers for supporting Wolfson children’s hospital in George’s name. Can’t wait to jog along side of you tomorrow.
